Welcome and thank you for choosing Desoto's Baseball Organization. Our goal is to teach the fundamentals of baseball, and make playing the game enjoyable. Below are a few common questions parents have had in the past. If you find that you still have a question please don’t hesitate to call our information line, where you will be directed to someone that can help you.
Q: When does registration start? A: Typically registration for the spring season starts around mid Jan or Feb. For the fall registration starts early August.
Q: Do Desoto have a Summer League? A: Currently at the time Desoto does not have a summer league.
Q: I think I may have missed the registration period, is it too late to sign up? A: Our goal is to fill as many teams as possible. Please call our info line or email the Athletic Director for confirmation or to be placed on a waiting list.
Q: I just signed my child up to play baseball, when will I find out what team my child is on? A: Once the league has closed registration, we will move into the draft process. Once all players are assigned, you will be contacted by a team.
Q: What is a draft? A: The draft is designed to properly fill all teams to the maximum capacity, by assigning players whom did not request a specific team.
Q: The draft is complete and I still have not heard from a team? A: Please visit our website under the document tab, and you'll find the players roster and practice schedule.
Q: How often are practices held? A: Most teams practice twice a week, from 1hr to a 1hr and half.
Q: Other teams are already practicing, why isn't my team? A: A requirement by the city of Desoto states that no team can request a practice field into a team has at least six players registered.
Q: Are games played during the week? A: Typically games will be played on Saturdays, however there maybe times that a game is scheduled during the week?
Q: My child is unable to play baseball, but I already signed him up. Is there a refund policy? And how do I get my refund? A: We would hate for any child to not be able to play. Please contact your age division director, and see if they can help out in anyway. If not the director will make the formal request to the Athletic Director, whom will either make the necessary changes or get you, your money. The board treasurer will mail your refund check within 5-7 business days.
